This is my first AB cookbook I have read。 I am co-reading Kitchen Confidential which is not really a cookbook but more in line with his tv series (which i have not watched)。 my impression, knowing his history a little, is that he is decidedly opinionated and has a lot of judgement。 At the same time he is far reaching and goes into subjects that most do not。 i give him many points for delicious food that is original, mostly within reach of the home cook。

A good cookbook with his usual wit。 It's billed as the stuff he cooked for his family which is cool, but I found for me personally a lot of the recipes have a few steps too many for my own home-cooking reality。 Still, it gives me the understanding of why my good tastes this way and not that way, because I'm not taking those extra steps。Three things stood out to me:1) His recipe for home fries which explains you should really make hash browns instead, but do you even need that since toast is a mu A good cookbook with his usual wit。 It's billed as the stuff he cooked for his family which is cool, but I found for me personally a lot of the recipes have a few steps too many for my own home-cooking reality。 Still, it gives me the understanding of why my good tastes this way and not that way, because I'm not taking those extra steps。Three things stood out to me:1) His recipe for home fries which explains you should really make hash browns instead, but do you even need that since toast is a much better addition to bacon and eggs。 No recipe for home fries or hash browns is given。2) His chapter on desserts which is one page long and for the same general reason as the home fries part includes no recipes。3) A blurb at the beginning explaining why photos of his daughter in the book are obscured。 It's a clear and well written opinion on a debate that's becoming more important as social media turns every parent into a local celebrity editing their own tabloid。 。。。more

This is a wonderful look at the recipes Anthony Bourdain made at home。 It was written in 2016 and dedicated to his daughter and her best friend。 She was just eight years old。 I hope this book gives her and Mr。 Bourdain's friends some happy memories of him。 This is a wonderful look at the recipes Anthony Bourdain made at home。 It was written in 2016 and dedicated to his daughter and her best friend。 She was just eight years old。 I hope this book gives her and Mr。 Bourdain's friends some happy memories of him。 。。。more

Anything by Tony!

This is easily one of my top 5 favorite cookbooks。 Bourdain has an excellent way of presenting his recipes with easy to follow instructions and excellent photography with each recipe。 I will admit that some of the recipes are very expensive given the proteins he is using but the technique is something that is applicable for any type of chef。

Good recipes, but too painful to look at all the happy family pictures, including a young daughter he left behind。

Can't wait to use this book。 There are several recipes I am really excited to try in here。 The biscuits, his fried chicken, the beets, and meatloaf for sure。 More importantly。 I miss him。 Can't wait to use this book。 There are several recipes I am really excited to try in here。 The biscuits, his fried chicken, the beets, and meatloaf for sure。 More importantly。 I miss him。 。。。more

The introductions to each recipe were the main reason I got this cookbook。 God, I really miss Tony。 :(

Jump right to the pasta section。 Breakfast is pretty standard, I am not a sandwich person so I am not putting my two bits in on that。 And while the party stuff had a couple gems, it was more than I have any interest in attempting。 Chicken pot pie and meatloaf recipes look equally amazing。 No dessert section but the sides are the best collection I think I have seen。 Just did a super quick flip through the rest of the meat, stocks and prep。 I did read the foreword as I am a huge fan of Anthony Bou Jump right to the pasta section。 Breakfast is pretty standard, I am not a sandwich person so I am not putting my two bits in on that。 And while the party stuff had a couple gems, it was more than I have any interest in attempting。 Chicken pot pie and meatloaf recipes look equally amazing。 No dessert section but the sides are the best collection I think I have seen。 Just did a super quick flip through the rest of the meat, stocks and prep。 I did read the foreword as I am a huge fan of Anthony Bourdain’s TV series。 。。。more

I miss tony I miss Anthony Bourdain 。I enjoyed his kindness 。and his respect for the people he visited。 He could go many places because of it 。 I liked his honesty 。its sad he was so cursed that he couldnt overcome it 。that he could not understand how much he was loved 。 And couldnt hold on long enough to raise his kid 。

Great book。 Great recipes。 Can be read like a coffee table book。

The talented Mr。 Bourdain was such a fascinating individual。 Even though most of these recipes weren’t anything I would cook or eat, mostly being meat based, I still loved his snippets of backstories and cooking tips, and most of all, his humor。 I’m not a TV watcher by any means, but I may be tempted to binge watch his show after I finish his books。

This cook book is intriguing quirky and different。 Anthony is opinionated and funny and has good guidance in the actual prep part。 However the cookbook is mostly sandwiches and meat stews so it’s just really narrow in scope。 The sandwiches especially were meh。 I do look forward to the shrimp bisque and the Portuguese kale stew though!

What I hate about most cookbooks is that professional chefs, who often don't have an interest in writing outside of communicating their recipes, are forced to write long, florid, arduous introductions to their recipes。 This then trickles down to online recipes on blogspots/etc, where you have to wade through an entire life story about how someone's uncle's deaf dog's cousin found the recipe on contiki in Greece。 Bourdain, pardon the pun, trims the fat and gets right to the heart of what we're in What I hate about most cookbooks is that professional chefs, who often don't have an interest in writing outside of communicating their recipes, are forced to write long, florid, arduous introductions to their recipes。 This then trickles down to online recipes on blogspots/etc, where you have to wade through an entire life story about how someone's uncle's deaf dog's cousin found the recipe on contiki in Greece。 Bourdain, pardon the pun, trims the fat and gets right to the heart of what we're interested in。 The 'sizzle' introductions are still interesting, and often argue clear points regarding Bourdain's opinion on certain ingredients, but nonetheless it is fast paced, hilarious and intriguing。 I also agree: Fuck deserts。 Bring on the cheese。 。。。more

This is a Cook Book you actually want to READ。 It makes me laugh。 Makes me miss the man in life but I will treasure this snapshot of his irreverence and unique contributions to cooking and food。

Yes, I read this cookbook from cover to cover :-DEntertaining, as only A。 Bourdain can be。Some nice looking recipes, others, meh。

This was a disappointment。 The photos were awful, the recipes were either too simple, too complicated or dishes a normal home chef would never make。 There was literally only one recipe I thought I might save, but I've already forgotten what it was。 This was a disappointment。 The photos were awful, the recipes were either too simple, too complicated or dishes a normal home chef would never make。 There was literally only one recipe I thought I might save, but I've already forgotten what it was。 。。。more

Exactly what you want from any Anthony Bourdain book, especially a cookbook。 Very practical and delicious recipes。

Loved this。 Would theoretically purchase in the future。 Didn't know this existed until I stumbled upon it at the library。 Encapsulates Bourdain's personality in so many ways。 Loved this。 Would theoretically purchase in the future。 Didn't know this existed until I stumbled upon it at the library。 Encapsulates Bourdain's personality in so many ways。 。。。more

As a vegetarian I found this book pretty hard to take but I did particularly like his section on deserts。

Not many cookbooks that are as enjoyable a cover to cover read for me。 If you don’t like cursing, walk on by。 As a pescetarian, I knew ahead that plenty of the recipes would not be for me, but they were still fun。 And I learned some good tips and marked quite a number of recipes I want to try。 Many are approachable for an average cook, others approachable for more seasoned home chefs。 But if you loved Bourdain, you’ll enjoy the read, whether or not you end up using the recipes。 The photos and ar Not many cookbooks that are as enjoyable a cover to cover read for me。 If you don’t like cursing, walk on by。 As a pescetarian, I knew ahead that plenty of the recipes would not be for me, but they were still fun。 And I learned some good tips and marked quite a number of recipes I want to try。 Many are approachable for an average cook, others approachable for more seasoned home chefs。 But if you loved Bourdain, you’ll enjoy the read, whether or not you end up using the recipes。 The photos and art are a huge part of this one, so don’t cheat yourself with an ebook for this one。 。。。more

Not a fan of the layout and design—confusing to follow。 But love the classic Mac and Cheese recipe。 Xoxo

Great cookbook with Mr。 Bourdain's usual highly approachable style。 Nearly all of the recipes are doable by the homecook as well。 Solid addition to any collection。 Great cookbook with Mr。 Bourdain's usual highly approachable style。 Nearly all of the recipes are doable by the homecook as well。 Solid addition to any collection。 。。。more

I have always loved how Anthony Bourdain has the ability to weave a story of food at its finest from the localist of locals with a vulgar flair that keeps you interested。 I have read through all of the recipes and can easily say that I will not be trying every recipe as I am not an experienced chef, BUT I did find some recipes that are worth my time and skills and I was able to add them to my recipe box。 I am excited to try a few especially Laksa and the Bahn mi recipe。

Good cookbook chock full of on-brand attitude ("in a good way") and comforting surprises (like a lot of sandwich recipes)。 All hot takes aside (not that Bourdain's aren't especially fun to read, even when they're not really all that hot), there is wealth of practical kitchen advice spliced between mostly accessible home-cookin' recipes here that make this tome feel like a grade-A keeper, burger comic and all。 I've made a few things I already look forward to trying again, but I'd say this cookboo Good cookbook chock full of on-brand attitude ("in a good way") and comforting surprises (like a lot of sandwich recipes)。 All hot takes aside (not that Bourdain's aren't especially fun to read, even when they're not really all that hot), there is wealth of practical kitchen advice spliced between mostly accessible home-cookin' recipes here that make this tome feel like a grade-A keeper, burger comic and all。 I've made a few things I already look forward to trying again, but I'd say this cookbook is worth the cover for the chapter detailing Tony's Thanksgiving dinner game plan; this year my potatoes will be mashed "kind of Robuchon style"! 。。。more

I loved this book。 I don’t cook and I loved this book。 Anthony Bourdain approaches all food equally in this cookbook so much that I feel fairly confident in cooking anything from scrambled eggs to a chicken pot pie to full thanksgiving dinner。 The anecdotes or prefaces to chapters or recipes were the place Bourdain shined through。 I’m sure the recipes are great, but never have I read a cookbook first page to last until now and that is because Bourdain’s tips, tricks, and stories make learning mo I loved this book。 I don’t cook and I loved this book。 Anthony Bourdain approaches all food equally in this cookbook so much that I feel fairly confident in cooking anything from scrambled eggs to a chicken pot pie to full thanksgiving dinner。 The anecdotes or prefaces to chapters or recipes were the place Bourdain shined through。 I’m sure the recipes are great, but never have I read a cookbook first page to last until now and that is because Bourdain’s tips, tricks, and stories make learning more about cooking enjoyable。 He has opinions about food and he will tell you them。 Side note: there’s a whole chapter on sandwiches! This is the first cookbook I've read cover to cover。 I like the personal touches Bourdain adds in the intro before each recipe。 He also kept his personality and voice within this book which made it more interesting to read。 I've read Kitchen Confidential before, which was cool to have in the back of my mind while reading this book。 This is the first cookbook I've read cover to cover。 I like the personal touches Bourdain adds in the intro before each recipe。 He also kept his personality and voice within this book which made it more interesting to read。 I've read Kitchen Confidential before, which was cool to have in the back of my mind while reading this book。 。。。more

Bourdain’s commentary cracks me up。 Most of the recipes are too complicated for me (where am I going to find wild boar?), but I will definitely try some of the easier pasta dishes。
